Bathroom Vanities – You Can

When I hear the term bathroom vanities, I imagine a sophisticated woman from a few generations ago. She wears a silk slip and sits at her bathroom vanity powdering her nose as she gets dolled up to go out on the town. I have hardly ever seen a bathroom vanity in this fashion, but the one I imagine actually has a chair to sit on while she gets ready.

Most modern women don’t have time to sit while they preen and primp for the day. The classy woman in my mind has more than enough time to sit at her vanity and look in the mirror while she prepares herself for the evening ahead. In the past, bathroom vanities were designed more like a desk than a counter. They had drawers that provided plenty of space for cosmetics, hair curlers and other hygiene necessities. A large mirror was usually connected to the desk with some sort of hinge so that the angle could be adjusted. This old fashioned design has now been replaced with plenty of counter space and a mirror mounted on the wall for most bathrooms. Buying an antique bathroom vanity to decorate your bathroom could give you the classic, sophisticated design you are looking for.
